Sports Challenge – Knock It Out!

Attention Everyone.

The Roswell Girls Softball Association is known for its support and involvement with the youth in the City of Roswell but we all know we can do more.  The RGSA will be holding its first annual opening day “Knocking Hunger Out of the Park Food Drive” on April 13th, 2013.  This will be the re-opening of the Roswell Wool Bowl Softball Complex which has been under construction for the past few months.

The RGSA will be providing a $100 Visa gift card to the team that brings the most can food to the opening day ceremonies.  We are currently looking for support from local businesses to assist with the spectator portion of the drive.  To draw more attention to the food drive we intend to raffle off prizes from local businesses.  Every spectator who brings two or more cans of food will be entered into a prize drawing and winners will be announced during the opening ceremonies.

RGSA Food Drive 2013

It is the intension of the RGSA that the Knocking Hunger Out of the Park Food Drive become an annual event to give back to the community that has supported them for so many years. With any luck we will gain the support from the Roswell businesses that is needed to create an event for those who need it.

As we get more info and sponsors for the prize drawing we will keep posting updates.

Here’s the Challenge.
To all the coaches and all the leagues and all the sports teams out there – Have a drive.  You have a small army (team/league) at your disposal.  You don’t have to coordinate a special ceremony or tournament to collect the food.  You already have games scheduled and events you’re going to.  Make a few calls and make it happen.  You don’t have to collect a ton of food; you only need to make a difference.  Every little bit helps and you already have the organization to do it.

If you need help with a flier here are links to the above flier as a word document well as a cover letter requesting support from local businesses. Food Drive Flier  Food Drive Cover Letter

If you think this is a good idea but aren’t part of a sports team; send this to someone who is.  Help-out, make a difference.
