2013 Registration and Player Draft

Slugger Fans, there are only two more dates left for player registration.  Head down to the Roswell Yucca Center tonight from 6:00 till 8:00 or this Saturday (March 2nd) to get your player signed up.  Them the Roswell Girls Softball Association (RGSA) will be holding their 2013 season player draft Saturday, March 9th 2013 at the Wool Bowl Softball Complex.

If your player is a new player this year or she is not returning to an existing team she will need to be placed into the player draft.  Remember each player should bring their own water, glove and cleats for the draft.

The age division times are listed below and will be added to our Sluggers Calendar.

rgsa 2013 draft schedule

Each player will need to check-in at the registration table by the concession stand before the draft begins. For the draft skills each girl will be given a number which will be pinned to her back.  The number will be used by the coaches as each girl runs through the “skills”.

If you are a coach and will be drafting your entire team or just need to pickup a few players to complete your roster here is a simple spreadsheet that may help.  Along the left edge are the girls’ draft numbers.  As each player works through the skills you rank their abilities on a scale of 1-3 (3 being the best). You will notice the “P.-3″ column in the center of the sheet. The “P.-3″ line is the “Parent Factor” and is a -3 points. This is for those sideline coaching parents that like to bark at the girls.  We don’t mind cheers but yelling and negative comments don’t help the girls so we try our best to prevent any of that with our Sluggers.  You may choose to not use this column while picking your team but for the Sluggers we try to keep those type of parents out of our bleachers.

If you think this sheet will help in your draft feel free to use it.  Here is a link to a pdf copy as well as the excel file.

If you like the draft sheet or have a better layout, leave me a comment and let me know.  I’m always looking for a better way to do things.
