RGSA Food Drive

April 4th, 2015 will be the RGSA’s Spring Season Opening Day. With such a wonderful facility being provided by the City of Roswell for our girls, it seemed like a good idea to try and give a little back to the community, so last year we came up with a way to do just that.

The Roswell Girls Softball Association is proud to announce it’s third annual:

Opening Day,
Knocking Hunger Out of the Park Food Drive.

The RGSA will be providing a $100 Visa gift card to the team that brings the most can food to the opening day ceremonies.  To help generate as much food as possible, our business friends have donated funds to make a prize drawing possible as-well.  For every two cans of food a spectator brings to opening ceremonies they will be entered into our drawing. First Prize is a $100 Visa Gift Card and our Second Prize is a $75 Target Gift Card.

So, for those of you who are keeping track.  We are giving away $100 to the team with the most can food, $100 to a spectator and $75 to a spectator for the donation of two cans of food.

If you don’t like your chances of winning the drawing with only one entry, play the odds and bring more food.
If you want your name in the drawing ten times bring twenty cans of food.  It’s that simple.  Just remember we won’t accept cans that are open, damaged or have the labels removed.

We have gotten so much support from local businesses to assist with our first food drive that it’s just mind boggling.  Sears, Lawrence Brothers and Farmers Country Market are all providing shopping carts for collecting the food. Target, C-B Labs, Twincorner Art, J&L Jewelers, Farmers Insurance and others have donated money for the prize drawing.

Raffle will be held during opening ceremonies at 9:00am, April 20th.

This will be a great chance for you to enjoy the fresh spring air, support the girls, help the community, tour our brand new softball fields and maybe even win a little money.  – who says you can’t multi-task?

All the food that is collected during this event will be donated to the Community Kitchen located on East Deming Street.

Past Winners:

Team Chaos won the Knocking Hunger Out of the Park Food Drive on opening day and took home the top prize of $100 by filling two shopping carts with donated canned food. Even though this was the RGSA’s first attempt at a food drive it was a huge success and all the teams participated by trying to fill a shopping cart. With the efforts of team Chaos, 24 other softball teams and donations from the general public, the RGSA was able to fill two pickup truck beds with food. All of the food was donated to the Roswell Community Kitchen which provides daily hot meals to the needy in the Roswell area.

After the Knocking Hunger Out of the Park Food Drive gave out the team prize of $100 and the drawing prizes of $100 and $75 to two spectators the 2013 Roswell Girls Softball season was finally under way.
